Applying to public high school in New York City is a dizzying process. Students are expected to navigate a giant book of more than 500 choices. This can be especially tough for students whose parents don't speak English, or who can't take time off to go on site visits with their children. With teaching artist Douglas Paulson and a group of public high school students, we interviewed the Department of Education, guidance counselors, and advocates. Together, we produced a giant bookmark and an interactive website with stop-motion animation videos to share what we learned about the process. This project was a collaboration with the Resilience Advocacy Project. To see the interactive website, go here.
